All manufacturers who provide hinges for use on fire and escape doors are required by law to have certification in place before marketing such products.
Fire testing to relevant standards e.g. BS EN 1634-1:2000 is a requirement for all hardware that is intended for use on fire doors and is a vital element in attaining CE certification. All Loadpro hinges have been successfully included in such tests.
The European standard governing all single axis hinges is BS EN 1935:2002 and all Nico Loadpro hinges are manufactured and conform to all requirements of this exacting standard.
CE certification for ironmongery was bought in to give all parties, from specifiers to end users, an internationally recognized standard that they could have confidence in. It may also be necessary to satisfy Building Inspectors and/or Trading Standards Officers who may require proof of product compliance.
To guarantee that hinges conform to the above standards, all Loadpro boxes carry the 8 digit code to show the Category of use, number of test cycles, door mass, suitability for use on fire doors, safety in use as specified by the “Construction Products Directive”, corrosion resistance, security and finally hinge grade.
Nico Loadpro hinges are available in Grades up to 13 for use in severe, high traffic areas of today’s schools, hospitals and commercial buildings.
Our in-house testing facility is constructed to British Standards and allows endurance, load and corrosion resistance testing. Therefore our products are comprehensively tested from development through to manufacture ensuring they exceed the requirements of the most demanding installations and readily meet statutory requirements.
Testing to the very latest EN and BS performance and fire test standards are conducted, on our behalf, by Warrington APT Laboratories, a UKAS (UK Accreditation Service) approved test house.
